It is born from the soil and will eventually return to the soil.
I’m on my way.
Until about 150 years ago, indigo dyeing by fermentation was common in Japan.
The raw materials used are only plants and spring water.
Rather than the deep navy blue we know today,
In the past, the Japanese preferred completely transparent colors with a blue tinge.
We aim to create works that most beautifully reflect Japanese indigo.
I won’t live in a world where if you could explain materials and processes, robots and machines could too.
It is a world in which the human body and mind must be involved.
Moreover, it is not a tool for realizing human ideals centered on humans.
This task cannot be accomplished without recognizing that human activities are integrated into the dynamism of natural cycles.
In other words, I’m not painting, I’m helping Indigo paint.

土から生まれ、やがて土に還る
我々はその途中なのです
日本では約150年前まで発酵による藍染が一般的でした
使用する原料は植物と湧き水のみ
今日私たちが認識している濃い赤紺ではなく、
かつて日本人は、青味を帯びた完全に透明な色を好んでいました
私は日本の藍を最も美しく映す作品を目指しています
材料とプロセスを説明できれば、ロボットや機械もそれができるという世界には私は住んでいません
それは
人間の身体と精神が関与しなければならない世界です
また、それは人間を中心にして人間の理想を実現するための道具ではありません
この仕事は、人間の活動が自然のサイクルのダイナミズムに統合されているということを認識しなければ達成できません
言い換えれば、私は絵を描いているのではなく、藍が絵を描くことを手伝っているのです

2000年に岩手県盛岡市の藍染工房にて藍染を始める
2017年に現在地に藍染工房を設ける
2020年コロナ禍の中、本来の日本の藍型染作品の創作を始める
彼が表現したいのは、かつて日本人が愛した青を守り伝え、その青を最大限に生かして表現すること
手紡ぎの麻と木綿の生地から作られ、水、風、火のテーマを探求し、自然の循環のダイナミズムの中に祈りを見出します
